PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat developable photosensitive material less liable to fog in long-term storage and excellent in the stability of a silver image after heat development and an image recording method. SOLUTION: The organic silver salt-containing image recording/forming material is stored in an atmosphere having >=85% volume fraction of an inert gas. The heat development photosensitive material contains at least a) an organic silver salt, b) photosensitive silver halide, c) a reducing agent capable of reducing the silver ion of the organic silver salt to silver when activated by heat and d) a binder.
