PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a level measuring device for a fluctuating liquid surface having long life with a low cost. SOLUTION: This level measuring device for the fluctuating liquid surface is provided with a liquid level measuring means 10 comprising a float 3 made of a material with the specific gravity smaller than that of the liquid 1 in a tank 2 storing the liquid 1 and floating on the surface of the liquid 1, a variable resistor 4 formed on the upper face of the tank 3 and measuring the displacement in the vertical direction, a transfer section 5 connected to the float 3, erected in the vertical direction, and transferring the displacement quantity in the vertical direction of the float 3 to the variable resistor 4 through the upper face of the tank 2, and a hold section 6 formed around the transfer section 5, limiting the movement of the float 3 only in the vertical direction, and prohibiting the movement in the horizontal direction. The connecting portion of the transfer section 5 and the variable resistor 4 has a fixed quantity of play 9 in the displacement direction 8 of the float 3.
