PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To estimate with high accuracy the evaporated fuel purged by compensating the shortage of engine power by a motor from a change in feedback value. SOLUTION: When the engine power requirement torque TR for a vehicle becomes larger than a specified threshold value Tref, uniform combustion is conducted by O2 feedback control only for a specified time TI in stead of switching the engine running in a stratified combustion range to that in a rich combustion range under normal conditions for estimating the value of vaporized fuel quantity for the time TI by calculation and also the quantity of the vaporized fuel purged highly accurately by compensating the shortage of output torque TE of the engine by motor torque TM.
