PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing menaquinone-7 in a high yield while suppressing the production of ammonia by culturing a bacterium producing the menaquinone-7 by using a culture medium made from a distillation residue formed as a by-product in the production of a distilled sprit using barley. SOLUTION: This method for producing the menoquinone-7 is characterized by subjecting a distillation residual liquor formed as a by-product in the production of the distilled liquor using the barley to solid-liquid separation, providing a liquid portion, adding 1 wt.% of saccharides to the liquid portion, substantially neutralizing acids contained in the liquid portion, affording a prepared liquid, subjecting the resultant prepared liquid to a sterilizing treatment, using the obtained culture medium and culturing the bacterium belonging to Bacillus subtilis and capable of producing the menaquinone-7.
