The snapping roll unit comprises two snapping rolls(8,9) rotating in opposite directions around parallel axes and are rotationally interlocked with each other. It also has longitudinal snapping plates located over the rolls and extending parallel to the axes of rotation. Toothed blades(18,19), having teeth and grooves, are mounted onto the rolls. The teeth of the blades on the first roll are engageable with grooves of the blades on the second roll. There are more blades on the first roll than the second. the transmission ratio between the interlocked rolls is such that the rate of rotational speeds is reciprocal of the ratio of the number of blades on the respective snapping roll. |
