PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact and inexpensive printer capable of feeding the paper without using a complex mechanism and putting a burden to an user. SOLUTION: In this printer 1, a cam 51 moving in interlocking with an opening of a paper feeding cover 12 of a paper space 2 is brought into contact with a bottom plate 11, and its rotating range is limited. Whereby a space is formed between the paper 3 on the plate and a pick-up roller 31 to allow the paper 3 to be easily fed. On the other hand, one end of the bottom plate 11 is pushed up by a spring 52 in closing the cover 12, and the paper 3 on the plate and the pick-up roller 31 are brought into contact with each other, whereby a paper feedable state can be obtained. Accordingly the complex mechanism for vertically moving the pick-up roller 31 becomes unnecessary, and the compact and inexpensive printer can be provided.
