PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automated storage and retrieval warehouse capable of reducing a vertical interval of cargoes stored in shelves, reducing the size of a stacker crane by shortening the whole length on left and right sides of a fork device and coping with a change in the front and rear length of the cargo. SOLUTION: The stacker crane is provided so as to put in/out cargoes on a pair of left and right shelves. The stacker crane comprises an elevating/ lowering base 9 provided on a carrier truck, the fork device 10 which is provided on the elevating/lowering base 9 and is capable of putting in/out of load storing parts on the shelves by traversing in both of left and right directions Y and a traversing means 33 for traversing the fork device 10. The fork device 10 is constituted so as to be changeable in direction by reversing in a first direction A facing to one side of the left and right shelves and in a second direction B facing to the other side of the left and right shelves with a front and rear direction axial center 25 as a center and is provided with a direction changing means 32 to change the direction of the fork device 10 to the first direction A and the second direction B.
