PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simply and easily protect an object to be packaged such as a fruit by a cushion material whose storage space is small and which has high cushioning properties. SOLUTION: The cushion material 1 comprising a laminate 4 is obtained by joining surfaces of a plurality of flexible strips 2 which are formed of thin paper and adjacent to one another at a plurality of different regions 3 in a longitudinal direction and by gathering at gathering portions 5 at both sides. A non-adhesive region 8 where a part of the object F to be packaged can be exposed is formed on the flexible strips 2 facing at the center in a thickness direction of the laminate 4. A pair of strips 2 located at both sides in the thickness direction of the laminate 4 are rotated in reverse directions, whereby the object F can be packaged with the rodlike laminate developed to form a honeycomb structure. Since the whole object F is packaged, the non-adhesive region 8 need not be formed.
