PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filling method suitable for filling a liquid substance by a constant quantity into a container formed with a deformed portion such as an upward-tapered portion particularly on an upper part such as a PET bottle. SOLUTION: The filling method includes steps of lowering a filling nozzle 27 to a lower limit position L7 in the vicinity of the lower end in the container B, then feeding the liquid substance from the nozzle 27 while raising the nozzle 27, adjusting a raising speed of the filling nozzle 27 to cause a relative positional relation between the nozzle 27 and a liquid level of the substance in the container to be approximately constant instead of adjusting a filling flow rate of the liquid substance after the nozzle 27 reaches a lower end position L5 of the deformed portion (upward-tapered portion Bd) which is formed on the upper part of the container and whose cross-sectional area differs depending on a height, stopping feeding of the liquid substance when filling of a predetermined quantity of the substance is completed, and raising the filling nozzle 27 to take it out of the container B.
