PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image-forming apparatus which can automatically move a pressing member to a correct position in accordance with a breadth of a recording medium loaded on to a platen. SOLUTION: A moving unit 50 is set to a rear face 48a of a carriage 48. The carriage 48 is stopped when a butting plate 64 of a moving arm 56 passes an end face 36b of a sheet holding plate 36. A solenoid 54 is turned on at this time to rotate and butt the moving arm 56 against a boss 72. The carriage 48 is moved in an arrow B direction still in this state, whereby the butting plate 64 of the moving arm 56 butts against the end face 36b of the sheet holding plate 36. The pressing member 32 is thus moved to a position corresponding to one end part in a breadth direction of the recording paper (one end part in an arrow B' direction) along with the movement of the carriage 48.
