PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device, which can cope with the rise of printing speed and by which the shortening of start-up time and the reduction in power consumption at standby time are attained, even in the case of a color image forming device. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a first fixing unit 10, having a first nip part N1 formed because a heating means 11 is arranged on the side of a toner image surface to a material to be heated S carrying an unfixed toner image T; and a pressing member 16 is arranged on a side opposed to the toner image surface, so as to be opposed to the heating means 11 and a second fixing unit 20 positioned on the downstream side of the fixing unit 10, in the carrying direction of the material to be heated and having a second nip part N2 formed, because a pressing means 26 is arranged on the side of the toner image surface to the material to be heated S and a heating means 21 is arranged on the side opposite to the toner image surface, so as to be opposed to the pressing means 26; and a material to be heated S is heated, while successively holding and carrying by the first and second nip parts N1 and N2, so that the unfixed toner image T is fixed at the material to be heated S.
