PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sliver halide emulsion less liable to a change in the spectral absorption intensity of the emulsion with a multilayer-adsorbed sensitizing dye and having enhanced stability to a dispersion of a coupler in oil. SOLUTION: In the silver halide photographic emulsion containing silver halide grains having the spectral absorption maximum at <500 nm wavelength and a light absorption intensity of >=60 or the spectral absorption maximum at >=500 nm wavelength and a light absorption intensity of >=100, a sensitizing dye has been added in a form other than a solution of the dye in an organic solvent.
