PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an infrared detector which can be miniaturized and which can enhance the accuracy of a temperature measurement and to provide a temperature measuring instrument which uses the infrared detector. SOLUTION: The infrared detector 21 is provided with an infrared sensing element 31 which receives infrared rays radiated from an object S to be measured and which comprises a radiation thermopile 82 generating a voltage and a concave reflecting mirror 35 which condenses the infrared rays onto the sensing element 31. The sensing element 31 is arranged and installed in a position which becomes the focus of the reflecting mirror 35. The infrared rays radiated from the rear side of the sensing element 31 are received on the surface side of the sensing element 31.
