PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control bending deformation of an outer circumferential edge part of an interior rigid plate and swelling of covering rubber in an outer circumferential direction due to shear compression under high contact pressure and large deformation, and to improve a buckling characteristic, fracture characteristic and histeresis restoring force characteristic. SOLUTION: In a lamination layer rubber for seismic isolation 10 formed by covering with the covering rubber 5 the periphery whole area of a lamination layer body 4 made up by laminating a plurality of rigid plates 2... and rubber- like elastic plates 3... alternately between thick rigid plates 1, 1 to which mounting flanges 6, 6 are retrofittable by way of shear keys 7, 7, the lamination layer rubber 10 is further constructed in which rings 8, 8 made by hard material which hold edge portions 5a of the covering rubber 5 restrictively are arranged between the thick rigid plates 1, 1 around the outer periphery of the lamination layer body 4 and are held to the mounting flanges 6, 6.
