LOOPER CONTROL METHOD OF STANDS IN HOT STRIP MILL

PURPOSE: A looper control method of stands in a hot strip mill is provided which is capable of reducing defects of a strip generated by the operation of a looper. CONSTITUTION: In a method for controlling a looper which is positioned between a plurality of stands(10i,10i+1) forming a hot strip mill(1) and controls tensions of the strip(2) by pressing a strip(2) with a looper roll(21), the looper control method comprises the steps of approaching the strip(2) to work rolls(12i+1) of a stand(10i+1) positioned at the back of a looper(20) by passing through work rolls(12i) of a stand(10i) positioned at the front of the looper(20); applying tensions onto the strip(2) by rotating the looper roll(21) as many as degrees of an angle set according to conditions of the strip(2) thereby pressing the strip(2) after the front part of the strip(2) passes through the work rolls(12i+1) of the stand(10i+1) positioned at the back of the looper(20) as far as a certain distance; controlling pressing forces of the looper roll(21) by measuring tensions applied to the strip(2) and comparing the measured tensions with set tensions; and distancing the looper roll(21) pressing the strip(2) from the strip(2) before the back part of the strip(2) passes through the stand(10i) positioned at the front of the looper(20).
