PULSATILLAE RADIX EXTRACT HAVING EXCELLENT ANTIMICROBIAL EFFECT, PRODUCTION THEREOF AND PHARMACEUTICAL COMPOSITION CONTAINING SAME

PURPOSE: A process of preparing a Pulsatillae Radix extract and a pharmaceutically acceptable salt from Pulsatillae Radix is provided. Whereby, a composition containing the extract can be used as an oral rinse and a treating agent for periodontal disease having an antimicrobial effect. CONSTITUTION: The process comprises the following four stages. A ground Pulsatillae Radix is extracted and filtered after defatted to produce a methanol extract, which is fractionated several times into a chloroform layer and a water layer using chloroform and water to produce a chloroform extract, which is re-fractionated several times into an ethyl acetate layer and a water layer using ethyl acetate and water and then the ethyl acetate layer is concentrated to produce an ethyl acetate extract. The above water layer is fractionated several times into a butyl alcohol layer and a water layer using butyl alcohol and water to produce a butyl alcohol extract.
