PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an arc-extinguishing apparatus that gives full play to its cooling process, even if the rated breaking current is large and can completely break an electric current. SOLUTION: A pair of contacts 4, 5 is provided a current-limiting contact and a traveling contact within an insulating case. A current-limiting circuit breaker is provided arc-extinguishing apparatus surrounding the pair of contacts 4 and 5. The arc-extinguishing apparatus 7 is provided in an insulating subsidiary limit 14, with the first several grid boards 16 arranged in a row that has cutting-off part 15. The first arc-extinguishing 7a is formed an arc-extinguishing 17 along a make and break mobile path of traveling contact 5, by the cutting-off part 15, is adjacent to the traveling contact opening edge to the arc- extinguishing 17, and a second arc-extinguishing 7b is formed in a row orthogonal with the first grid board 16 and the several second grid boards 18 that do not have cut-off part 15.
