PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shield machine having a shape holding device with the structure capable of securing the segment holding ability equal to a vertical expansion type shape holding device without narrowing a working space in a rear deck. SOLUTION: A cantilever type rear deck 10 to be projected backward as a working deck is fitted to a right and a rear machine-inside posts 7 provided in the rear of a shield machine main body 1. The rear deck 10 is provided with an upper and a lower horizontal beams 11 and 12 and vertical beams 13 for connecting between rear parts of the upper and the lower horizontal beams 11 and 12. An upper part expansion type shape holding device 20 is installed on the upper horizontal beam 11 of the rear deck 10 freely to be moved forward and backward. A lower part expansion type shape holding device 25 is installed under the lower horizontal beam 12 of the rear deck 10 to be freely moved forward and backward.
