PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cold cathode discharge tube having an electrode enhancing a bonding strength of an electrode bar sealingly mounted to a glass bulb and a metal cylinder and enhancing a linearity accuracy of both members. SOLUTION: In the cold cathode discharge tube according to the present invention, contraction parts 8, 10, 12 of triangular, square and rhomboid shape are provided in the metal cylinders 7, 9, 11. A bonding strength of both members is enhanced and a linearity with a high accuracy can be ensured by bonding those contraction parts and a metal bar 5 at a bonding points of at least three points.
