PROPHYLACTIC USE OF N-METHYL-D-ASPARTATE(NMDA) ANTAGONIST

PURPOSE: A method for inhibiting a mammal neurological damage by administering an N-methyl-D-aspartate(NMDA) antagonist to a mammal prior to the impairment of glucose and/or oxygen supply to the brain is provided. Therefore, it inhibits a mammal neurological damage and prevents pain caused by central sensitization at the same time. CONSTITUTION: An NR2B subunit selective NMDA antagonist of a compound represented by the formula 1 in an amount effective for inhibiting a mammal neurological damage is administered to a mammal prior to the impairment of glucose and/or oxygen supply to the brain to prevent primary hyperalgesia, secondary hyperalgesia, primary allodynia, secondary allodynia, or other pain caused by central sensitization in a mammal.
