PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize low cost for single-core bidirectional communication by omitting a beam splitter, and to enhance optical coupling efficiency of optical fibers in transmitting and receiving light. SOLUTION: In the single-core bidirectional optical communication, in which a transmitter 30 and a receiver 40 are arranged near each of both ends of a single optical fiber, one of the transmission and reception at one end of the optical fiber 2 is performed via the end face of the optical fiber, while the other is carried out via a notched part 20 that has a reflection area and installed on the peripheral face of the optical fiber.
