PURPOSE: An engine starter is provided to reduce the manufacturing cost and the weight of the vehicle by reducing the number of the components, and to prevent the breakdown of the engine starter caused by inappropriately starting the engine. CONSTITUTION: An engine starter(30) is composed of a pinion gear(40), an armature assembly(32), and an actuator(50). The pinion gear(40) is rotatably supported by the bearing(38) at one side and engaged with a wheel ring gear(45) driving an engine by the spur gear. A spiral spline(42) for transferring the driving power is formed in the inner periphery of the pinion gear. The armature assembly(32) has a spiral spline(34) at the predetermined section of the rotary shaft(33) for selectively transferring the rotation power. A touch plate(37) is formed on the end of a rod(36) supported by the bearing(38). The actuator advances the armature assembly(32) to insert the spiral spline(34) into the spiral spline(42). A dynamic coil(55) winds around a triangle element(52) to drive the armature assembly(32).
