PURPOSE: A gun detection system is provided to ensure safety with improved reliability by removing blind area in the detection range and detecting guns passing through the gate in a reliable manner. CONSTITUTION: A gun detection system comprises a search gate having panels(2,3) arranged at both sides so as to form a detection range, and which detects scattered electromagnetic field and generates a pair of detection signals having a phase difference; an oscillation circuit unit for generating an electromagnetic field by applying, to the panel of the search gate, a pair of transmitting signals having a phase difference in an opposite direction; a receiving unit for receiving the detection signals output from the search gate and amplifying the received signal by a predetermined gain value; a comparing unit for recognizing metal and non-metal by comparing the detection signal amplified by the receiving unit and the transmitting signal of the oscillation circuit unit; a micro computer for recognizing only guns by analyzing the data output from the comparing unit through a gun analysis algorithm; and a warning unit for warning an administrator, of the fact recognized by the micro computer.
