PURPOSE: A method for registering a calling number of a mobile communication terminal is provided to easily register the calling number without searching a phone book to confirm that the received calling number is a new number. CONSTITUTION: If receiving a short message, a short message process module processes the received short message(S101,S102). If a calling number is in the received short message, the short message process module saves the calling number at a memory(S103). A user interface task compares the save calling number with the preliminarily registered telephone numbers(S104). If the calling number is already registered, a liquid crystal display displays the short message when a user operates a message display key(S105). If the calling number is not registered, the liquid crystal display displays a number-saving soft key with the short message when the user operates the message display key(S106). It is checked whether the user operates the number-saving key(S107). If the user operates the number-saving key, the receiving calling number is registered at a phone book(S108). If the user presses a confirmation key, the calling number process is terminated(S109).
