PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording medium reproducing device which can peform a high-speed search equivalent to the case that the entire search information is stored even when no search information is stored or only part of the information is stored and which can remarkably reduce the capacity of a memory. SOLUTION: The recording medium reproducing device using a read means to read and reproduce information from a recording medium is provided with: a block setting means that sets a block in which a processing position to desirably move the read means exists as an object block; a position discrimination means that discriminates whether the position of the read means is within the range of the object block; a 1st search means that makes the read means jump in the direction of the object block until the position discrimination means discriminates that the read means exists within the range of the object block; and a 2nd search means that allows the read means to read the time information of the object block from the recording medium when the position discrimination means discriminates that the read means exists within the range of the object block and makes the read means jump to a prescribed position on the basis of the time information.
