Control sequence for electronic ballast

A novel circuit for driving a high intensity discharge (HID) lamp uses pulse width modulation (PWM) switches to generate a signal to be delivered to a HID lamp. During different portions of the operating cycle, the system uses one switch to facilitate all PWM signaling, while the circuit uses two switching switches to generate the PWM signaling during other portions of the cycle operation.
