PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To estimate dynamic characteristics (a mass, an damping coefficient and rigidity) of each floor of a building. SOLUTION: Sensors are installed beforehand on specific floors of the building, and the building is excited forcibly by an exciter or the like, and the dynamic characteristics of each floor of the building are estimated successively from the highest floor by the method of least squares by using response values of the floors of the building detected by the sensors.
