PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing system capable of surely housing a printing job to be housed, a method of controlling the system and a memory medium. SOLUTION: In the printing system mainly consisting of a printer device having a memory device such as a hard disk for storing a printing job as a document in it and a host computer for producing the printing job in the printer device and outputting the printing job, intermediate data and the printing job are produced and the size of the printing job and the vacant capacity of the printing job are compared in the transmission of the printing job. When the size of the printing job is larger, transmission of the printing job is temporarily suspended and a process selecting image for selecting a process to be taken hereafter is displayed. In the process selecting image, a GUI for urging a user to select either 'Cancel' for canceling the transmission of the printing job or 'Convert Format' for converting the format of the printing job is displayed. When the user selects 'Cancel', the produced printing job is deleted; when the user selects 'Format transformation', the format of the produced printing job is transformed and after that, the printing job in the new format is outputted to the printer device.
