PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for obtaining a surface treated galvanized steel sheet having excellent screen printability by which a coating stage for a surface treatment agent and special waste water discharge treatment in the use of the obtained surface treated galvanized steel sheet are not required by using a surface treatment composition which does not contain chromium. SOLUTION: The method for producing the surface treated galvanized steel sheet has a stage where a galvanized steel sheet coated with the surface treatment composition containing a water soluble organic resin, metallic ions and an acid, is heated and is thereafter water-cooled.
