PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a copolymerized polyester resin for forming film on the inner surfaces of metal cans which shows a sufficient retort resistance, a high processibility and an excellent corrosion resistance and has no elution into beverages, etc., without using any epoxy resin, and a film-forming resin composition comprising this. SOLUTION: The copolymerized polyester resin comprises glycol residues and polycarboxylic acid residues. here, the polycarboxylic acid residues contain >=50 mol % aromatic discarboxylic acid residues, and the glycol residues contain >=10 mol % at least one of glycol residues having at least one ether bond within their unit-constituting residues and glycol residues having branched structures with <=3 carbon chains between the glycol groups. The resin has an intrinsic viscosity of from 0.2 to 1.0 dl/g.
