摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium for high density recording that is excellent in thermal stability. SOLUTION: An in-plane magnetic recording medium 10 is provided with a first NiAl base layer 2, a second CrMo base layer 4, a CoPt ferromagnetic atom rich layer 6, a Ru magnetic coupling layer 12, a CoCrPtB recording layer 16, and a carbon protective layer 18 on a substrate 20. The magnetic coupling layer 12 brings about the exchange coupling force between the recording layer 16 and the ferromagnetic atom rich layer 6. Since ferromagnetic atom concentration in the ferromagnetic atom rich layer is higher than that of the recording layer 16, the exchange coupling which acts between the ferromagnetic atom rich layer and recording layer are enhanced remarkably. It is possible thereby to provide the magnetic recording device that is excellent in the thermal stability and in the recording stability over a long period of the magnetic recording medium.
