PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To overcome a problem such that a back end portion of an upper magnetic pole layer has been formed on a gap depth (Gd) arrangement layer consisting of insulating material in a conventional magnetic head so that the volume reduction of the back end portion of the upper magnetic pole layer causes magnetic saturation readily to produce. SOLUTION: The laminating of a raising layer 31 consisting of non-magnetic metal material on the Gd arrangement layer 30 allows the plating formation on the back end portion of the upper magnetic pole layer 21 to be carried out readily and the predetermined film thickness of the upper magnetic pole layer to be reliably formed. Therefore, by suppressing the volume reduction of the back end portion of the upper magnetic pole layer and preventing from magnetic saturation, the magnetic recording properties can be enhanced.
