PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a security system that can provide a user with appropriate service by considering positional information on a portable terminal to determine whether abnormality has occurred in a monitored object. SOLUTION: In a security system wherein the portable terminal and a security control device can communicate with each other, the portable terminal has a positional information computing means, a means for determining whether the portable terminal is within a prescribed range from the positional information, and a means for notifying the security control device to the effect when the portable terminal is within the prescribed range. Upon receiving the notification from the portable terminal, the security control device acquires the state information of the monitored object from a monitor and determines whether abnormality has occurred in the monitor.
