PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a jam releasing means to release a jammed state by applying an impact to jammed coins when so called a coin jam state that coins can not pass a withdrawal port provided for sorting is generated and a jam detecting means to detect the jam, in a coin sorter. SOLUTION: The number of coins for every denomination supplied from the coin sorter 150 is compared with the number of coins for every denomination detected by sensors for every denomination 520, 530 and 540 after passing the coin sorter and integrated by counters 550, 560 and 570 for every denomination, when both numbers are noncoincident with each other, it is judged as 'a coin jam is generated' and a solenoid unit 8 is driven via a drive circuit 580.
