PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such a problem that there is sometimes the case that an eye region can not be properly extracted by the influence of a reflected image to be formed on a lustrous reflective surface of glasses when a driver wears a pair of glasses. SOLUTION: This face region detector is provided with an illumination light source 13 to illuminate the face part of a man from the separate directions, a camera 14 to pick up an image of the face part illuminated by the illumination light source, an illumination light emission control part 54 to control lighting of the illumination light source, a camera control part 53 to control the camera to be synchronized with lighting of the illumination light source and a retinal reflection detecting part 57 to remove the reflected image of an object having the lustrous reflective surface by using at least one image to be acquired by the camera synchronized with the lighting of the illumination light source and to extract only a prescribed eye region. Consequently, only a prescribed face part can be extracted, in addition, no special device is required to be worn for the man as a subject and the man feels no troublesomeness.
