PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable controlling of a gap between a bearing and a housing, and consequently, to enable smooth movement of a roll in an axial direction by means of controlling the gap so as to perform accurate positioning of the roll. SOLUTION: In a converting apparatus conveying a web by rotatably driving a plurality of rolls and performing desired processing to the web between the rolls, a temperature adjusting mechanism is arranged in the housing 13 of a bearing portion in the roll 11 as a standard roll, and the housing itself is arranged to thermally expand or shrink by means of temperature adjusting. The gap between the bearing 12 and housing 13 can be controlled, and thus, movement of the roll 11 in an axial direction and fixing of the roll after moving is realized, and positioning of the roll 11 to be a standard can be carried out in a high precision accordingly. Further, miniaturization of a driving unit used for lateral movement can be performed since the movement becomes smooth.
