PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing machine capable of realizing reduction in power consumption, saving occupancy space and reducing cost of the parts. SOLUTION: This fixing machine is equipped with a fixing roller (thermal fixing means) 1 thermally fixing an unfixed image on paper (recording material) S, and an external heating member (external fixing means) 4, arranged in contact with the outer periphery of the roller 1 and heating the roller 1 from the outside. Then, the member 4 is constituted of a sheet member 5 carried as a heat transfer means and a heater member abutting on the outer periphery of the roller 1, while holding the member 5 in between. Then, the member 5 also functions as a cleaning means for the roller 1.
