PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a glass-etching composition in which the danger to human body and the problem of environmental pollution are reduced, and to provide a method for surface processing of a sand-blasted glass product. SOLUTION: The glass-etching composition comprises a water-miscible organic solvent and ammonium fluoride, whereby the usage of hydrofluoric acid and sulfuric acid hazardous to human body and causing environmental pollution are extremely reduced. The method for the surface processing comprises using the glass-etching composition to the sand-blasted glass product having any shape such as a plane, a curved surface or a pipe to give an elegant appearance having translucent and moderate gloss and luster.
