PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To overcome the problem such that since there is a difference between the width dimensions of a lower core layer and a upper core layer in a thin film inductive head, the recording magnetic field applied to a recording medium from both core layers protrudes from a track width, so that it is easy to generate write flinging. SOLUTION: A protruding area 1a integrated with a lower core layer is formed on the lower core layer 1. The protruding area 1a is formed in the rectangular shape, and the width dimension T1 of the protruding area 1a coincides with the width dimension Tw of a tip 7a of a upper core layer 7. Accordingly, the leakage magnetic field generated from the protruding area 1a and the tip 7a do not protrudes greatly from the width dimension Tw acting as a track width, so that the write flinging is suppressed. As the write flinging is suppressed, the occurrence of a tracking error, etc., can be prevented.
