PURPOSE: A coolant channel of a cylinder head of an engine is provided to reduce amount of hydrocarbon contained in exhaust gas on initial starting. CONSTITUTION: An existing coolant channel is formed on a lower part between ignition plug insertion holes, and has an upper side covered by an upper wall(2a), and a lower side contacting with combustion chambers(3) on both sides with a wall as thick as the upper wall interposed. An invented upper wall(2b) is formed so that both ends thereof are placed on starting points of both ends of the existing upper wall, while the middle part is deflected down similarly to shape of a lower wall separating both of the combustion chambers and the coolant channel.
