PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an indene polymer whose weight average molecular weight and yield can easily be improved. SOLUTION: The method for producing an indene polymer comprises polymerizing 5-95 pts.wt. indene monomer and 95-5 pts.wt. monomer cationically copolymerizable with this monomer as the total of the monomers of 100 pts.wt. with the use of an acidic catalyst, and subsequently decolorizing the reaction solution with a solid adsorbent.
