PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent misreading when a caliper or a micrometer is used to measure the length of an object to be measured by pinching it and calculating directly scales on its metallic surface. SOLUTION: This metallic measuring device such as the caliper or micrometer is provided with partly colored auxiliary scales excluding its main scale.
