PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing blast furnace coke from bony coal (e.g. brown coal). SOLUTION: After bony coal (e.g. brown coal) is subjected to heat treatment in a liquid medium under a pressure of 1-20 MPa at 400 deg.C or lower, the treated coal is separated from the liquid medium, charged as a part of a coal blend into a coke oven, and carbonized. The treated coal can be mixed with a caking additive. Water or a substance of which the vapor pressure exceeds 1 MPa at 400 deg.C or lower can be used as the liquid medium.
