摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce variation of product quality by controlling not only the film thickness of a first protection layer but also the film thickness of upper layers without monitoring the film thickness or other various characteristics when forming films of each layer of a phase change optical recording medium. SOLUTION: The phase change optical recording medium has as constituent elements at least a substrate; layers to be formed on the substrate by laminating with vacuum film formation including a first protection layer, a recording layer, a second protection layer, and a reflected radiation layer; a UV (ultra violet) cured resin layer formed on the upper plane side of the reflected radiation layer by coating and hardening. A manufacturing method of the phase change optical recording medium is characterized in measuring periodically the film thickness of at least one layer among the layers to be formed by lamination with the vacuum film formation including the first protection layer, the recording layer, the second protection layer, and the reflected radiation layer, and changes the condition for vacuum film formation to form lamination based on the value.
