PURPOSE: A two encoder type tuning apparatus and a method thereof are provided, which controls an audio volume output and tunes an audio channel frequency using an encoder type controller generating a clock pulse according to the control of a user. CONSTITUTION: According to the method, a desired operation mode state is established through a function key unit(23). Then, it is judged whether the established operation mode is a tuning control mode or not. Then, a pulse signal is applied to a micom from a tuning switch unit(22). And it is judged whether the tuning control mode is a manual mode by an operation of a manual switch(SW6). When the tuning control mode is a manual mode state, if the pulse signal is applied to the micom from a tuning up switch(SW4), the micom increases a channel frequency by one level by controlling a tuner unit. If the pulse signal is applied to the micom from a tuning down switch(SW5), the micom decreases the channel frequency by one level by controlling the tuner unit.
