PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a passage feeding oil pressure to a lift variable mechanism, with a simple constitution and easily machined, in a valve system comprising a tappet provided with a hydraulic lift variable mechanism. SOLUTION: Through-holes 56, 61a and 61b are provided to go through the tappet 50 of divided structure, where a locking means comprising a hydraulic plunger 71, a lock pin 72, a pressing spring 73, etc., are provided. A first passage offset from the cam axial center face to the tappet 50 side and extending to the tappet sliding direction, a third passage extending from the end part of the through-hole 61b to the first passage 81, etc., are drilled, and a hydraulic oil feeding passage 93 is drilled, branching off from the center face to the inner peripheral surface of a tappet guide hole 25. They are all communicated in a condition in which they keep in contact with the base circle part of the tappet 50.
