PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To drastically reduce data volume in filing a document by storing information added to the document separately from the document file. SOLUTION: Additional data are written in a sheet of paper P on which a document file F prepared by prescribed application soft is printed. An image of the paper P is read out by an image reading means 4 and stored in an image memory 5. On the other hand, an original document file F is developed as a bit map in a bit map memory 7. The image of the memory 5 is compared with that of the memory 7 and the information of a difference (added data) is stored in a difference information file IF. If necessary, the bit map development image of the original document file F and the image of the difference information file IF are synthesized by an image synthesis means 13 and outputted.
