PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a distillation method capable of suppressing polymerization in a distillation tower. SOLUTION: In this distillation method, raw material (a) mixed with steam from a cracking furnace after pyrolysis of naphtha is fed to a lower section of a tower 1 which has trays 10 at proper intervals, the distillate (b) from the upper section of the tower is discharged to a quenching tower, and fuel oil (c) is discharged from the bottom of the tower. The tower 1 has a circulating line 23 on the middle of inside of the tower 1, the circulating line 23 is provided with a heat exchanger 27, a magnet strainer 26, or the like, and liquid (d) on a liquid collecting pan 22 is sprayed from a nozzle tube 21. Iron component is removed from the liquid passing through the magnet strainer 26 by absorption to prevent polymerization in the tower 1 caused by the iron component. Heat is collected and effectively used by generating steam, or the like, by heat exchanging with water, or the like, in the heat exchanger 27. The magnet strainer is preferably installed on a feed line of the raw material (a) from the cracking furnace or ion a circulating line thereof (e) or on the both.
