PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preparing an aromatic amine based liquid epoxy resin having a reduced amount of a hydrolyzable chlorine. SOLUTION: The method for preparing an epoxy resin comprises subjecting an aromatic amine and epichlorohydrin to chlorohydrin-formation reaction in the presence of an aprotic polar solvent, and then adding a solid sodium hydroxide to the reaction product.
