PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance an efficiency of a driving force by a screw by making an underwater resistance of a support frame supporting a screw shaft, etc., small by improving a power transmission means from an engine of a ship. SOLUTION: The propulsion device 21 of a ship is constituted such that a power from a power source is transmitted to the screw shaft 25 through a power transmission direction conversion mechanism 26 and the power transmission means 27 and the screw provided on the screw shaft 25 is rotated. The power transmission means from the power transmission direction conversion mechanism 26 to the screw shaft 25 is constituted by a wounding transmission mechanism 27 or a gear transmission mechanism.
